K-12 youth summer camps

Our lab is committed to devoting effort to extending knowledge to K-12 students and non-experts. Our groups visits K-12 schools each year to provide guest lectures, and during this time we work with primary school teachers to develop new techniques for assessing student learning.  Each our research group hosts a K-12 summer camp at UF. Our students and I work very closely with education experts and extension agents from 4H to develop a strategic plan for developing teaching and learning objectives for the camp.  This critical interaction ensures that our teaching methods reach the K-12 audience, and also provides a hands-on experience for graduate students to teach in an informal setting.

Biosensors Camp for K-12 Florida Youth: A hands on learning experience
The biosensors camp at UF provides hands on experience for K-12 students interested in the fields of life and physical sciences and/or engineering.  Students will be provided with the background information necessary for building a  biosensor, and work in teams through experiential learning to develop, test, and use a biosensor.
